TOTAL SCORE 6W – 2L
Intro and recap: last week was a bit rough, with West Ham and Sheffield letting me down. I was expecting a hard second season for Sheffield but did not expect it to hit so soon as they looked really poor against Wolves in the first game. West Ham had a fairly tight game against Newcastle, but they lacked the sharpness to finish their chances, while Newcastle did.

This week I have some picks, that are not that surprising. I didn’t get enough strong wibes from many of the Premier League games, and I have not looked at the other big European leagues just yet, so I can’t make any predictions on them yet. First off, Everton looked really strong against Tottenham last weekend, especially that new midfield with Allan, Doucoure and Rodriguez coming in fresh. WBA on the other hand really looked like a freshly promoted team, that did not know how to deal against stronger opposition, so I see this as an easy win for Everton.
Arsenal started their season with a dominant win against Fulham and continued their excellent week with the contract extension of their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Unfortunately for West Ham they are going to get smacked, as they were not sharp enough against Newcastle and the test is too much for them this week. I thought about adding odds by having Arsenal score more goals, but I chose against it.
Biggest game of the weekend is on Sunday with Chelsea-Liverpool. This is going to be hype and I see the game having a big bunch of goals. Liverpool had a wild game against Leeds, winning 4-3, and their defense seems messy and unsorted at the moment. That is a huge surprise with them having last season best goalkeeper Allison and defender Van Djik. Chelsea also looked unsorted against Brighton, with all their new players and only Werner looking ready for the new season. So, I see the game being rather messy and something like 1-1 is probable as big teams usually don’t take risks against each other early on in the season. Still, I see the safest bet is to go with both teams scoring as the potential is so high on both sides.
