Weekend 26.–28. September: Joker weekend

 TOTAL SCORE 8W – 3L

Intro and recap: This is going to be an interesting weekend of football in the Premier League. There are a few games that could go anyway like Crystal Palace – Everton and Burnley – Soton, but there are also games with really tasty odds. Therefore, I will be having a few extra jokers to spice up this weekend and look for those massive odds.

Since the Premier League games are tough to predict, I am adding couple of games around Europe. First off, my classic, Atalanta going against Torino. Torino lost their opening game of the season to Fiorentina and Atalanta is going to be a big step up from that. Earlier this year Atalanta hammered Torino 7-0 and I do not think enough has changed in the summer to change that, so I think a W for Atalanta is in the books.

Second game is the always exciting Dortmund from the German Bundesliga. On Saturday Dortmund are guests to Augsburg. Augsburg started their season well with a win against Union Berlin, but still Dortmund is just going over there to hammer in some goals. Last season Dortmund scored 5 goals in each of their games against Augsburg and I think Dortmund are only better now. Dortmund will eventually hit their Christmas slump, but they traditionally start their season strong and a are able to challenge Bayern Munich up to that point.

Last game for the betting line is West Ham - Wolverhampton. West Ham have lost both their games so far and there is more to come. I was expecting Wolves to look tired at the start of the season, but that was total BS and they have looked very sharp. Wolves have also had some signings going in and out, which should refreshen the team and keep the players on their toes and fighting for the spots in the opening XI. So, I see Wolves just being better and taking the win.

JOKERS’s are all single bets in my betting sheets, but you can combine them and try to go for those massive winnings.

Brighton have played their opening games well, even though they lost to Chelsea, they played that game well. Man U started their campaign clunkily last week against Crystal Palace and they looked like a team that didn’t have a preseason. I’m not sure if Solskjaer can fix this in week, so I find that 4.90 odds for Brighton really worth going for.

Tottenham beat Soton last weekend with an impressive score line of 5-2, but I do not think Tottenham were actually that good and it was more of Soton not knowing how to defend counter attacks. This week Tottenham will have the ball and Newcastle get to counterattack. Newcastle rarely beat the bigger teams, but I feel Tottenham are shaky enough at the moment to be surprised by Newcastle.

Last of the trio of JOKER’s is the Monday night delight of Liverpool – Arsenal. The past few games have been really tight between the two, with Arsenal surprisingly winning both of the last two. 6.50 as the odds for Arsenal victory are surprising to me and worth trying out.

Weekend 19.–21. September: No surprises here

 TOTAL SCORE 6W – 2L

Intro and recap: last week was a bit rough, with West Ham and Sheffield letting me down. I was expecting a hard second season for Sheffield but did not expect it to hit so soon as they looked really poor against Wolves in the first game. West Ham had a fairly tight game against Newcastle, but they lacked the sharpness to finish their chances, while Newcastle did.

This week I have some picks, that are not that surprising. I didn’t get enough strong wibes from many of the Premier League games, and I have not looked at the other big European leagues just yet, so I can’t make any predictions on them yet. First off, Everton looked really strong against Tottenham last weekend, especially that new midfield with Allan, Doucoure and Rodriguez coming in fresh. WBA on the other hand really looked like a freshly promoted team, that did not know how to deal against stronger opposition, so I see this as an easy win for Everton.

Arsenal started their season with a dominant win against Fulham and continued their excellent week with the contract extension of their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Unfortunately for West Ham they are going to get smacked, as they were not sharp enough against Newcastle and the test is too much for them this week. I thought about adding odds by having Arsenal score more goals, but I chose against it.

Biggest game of the weekend is on Sunday with Chelsea-Liverpool. This is going to be hype and I see the game having a big bunch of goals. Liverpool had a wild game against Leeds, winning 4-3, and their defense seems messy and unsorted at the moment. That is a huge surprise with them having last season best goalkeeper Allison and defender Van Djik. Chelsea also looked unsorted against Brighton, with all their new players and only Werner looking ready for the new season. So, I see the game being rather messy and something like 1-1 is probable as big teams usually don’t take risks against each other early on in the season. Still, I see the safest bet is to go with both teams scoring as the potential is so high on both sides.
